I have two hard drives installed, the main via the usual IDE socket, second
via PCI RAID Controller. I use this one for backing up only, so is it
possible to disable it to stop it spinning up everytime the PC boots. I
only use it approx 1 weekly, so it seems like unnecessary wear and tear !

Thanks.

Steve.

I don't know of any way to stop its use without disconnecting it. The
wear and tear on the drive from spinning it up once a day is negligible
though.
