Hi,
I have a Sony Viao notebook running WinXP Pro. A few months ago I began
using an extra USB keyboard that was originally designed for the MAC. The
keyboard worked fine. XP recognized it. Except when I unplugged the
keyboard from the system, many of the laptop key mappings got screwed up!
The letter 'i' is replaced with the number '5', 'o' with '6', 'p' with
'*',... you get the idea. So after a system restore and trip to CompUSA I
bought a PC USB wireless keyboard. I plugged it in and presto the same
problem!
This what I've tried already.
1. Uninstall keyboard devices in Device Manager
2. Resetting the BIOS to the system defaults.
3. The keyboard works fine in Safe Mode so I know its a software problem.
But the reinstall from the Device Manager doesn't work.
I can't do a system restore again because my restore points have expired.
What to do? Has anyone ever had this problem? Can anyone suggest a good
place to go for answers? Thanks.
