I need help really bad on a problem that I've been having
with windows xp. there are time when all of a sudden xp
goes into vga mode and say's the device driver failed and
I have to restart the computer. I've tried everything I
could think of getting different drivers, checking direct
x, etc. does anyone have a suggestion or has the same
problem. please email me or leave a message on this
board. it's very frustrating.

What have you tried "getting different drivers" ???

Have you installed the latest catalysts from ATI ? And their control panel ?
Have you updated DirectX in Windows ?

Have you tried booting into safe mode, removing all video adapter drivers
there then installing your 9700 driver? Had to do this with a GF3 card
under XP Pro to get it working properly.

FWIW, Len
