i am going to be replacing my hard drive with a larger
one and i am running windows xp for o.s. I purchaced comp
through a retailer (xp already installed). As i
understand xp can only be installed once. how do i go
about replacing the drive and reinstalling xp. do i have
to buy another copy of xp?

Hello
Well back your data and just install the new drive ok, when the
activiation process comes up it will ask you to re-activate in which
it may and may not ok. Just install the new drive and in your bios
make the cdrom the primary boot device.

If it was my 80 gb disk, that's developed a bad spot, I would toss it and I
sure wouldn't use it for backup. Disks are so cheap these days it's just
not worth the risk. The last drive I purchased was a WD 120gb and I got it
for $60 from Staples after rebates, that's cheap.
