Since the upgrade to XP every time i start my computer i
get a message telling me that Instant messenger can't be
loaded till it is upgraded to a newer version. I click
upgrade...it looks like it is upgrading andf minimizing in
the toolbar but it disappears. Then if i try to load it I
sometimes get "The feature you are trying to use is on a
network resource that is unavailable. I also manually
downloaded and installed the upgrade but have the same
problem each time i start up my computer. Any suggestions?

Greetings Lou,

More than likely you install MSN Messenger 6.x, whereas the upgrade notification is informing
you to install Windows Messenger. You can find the latest Windows Messenger 4.x here:

So which version are we supposed to have using Windows XP? It seems that
version 4.7 has some sort of problem signing in unless you check something
like other users using communications services. Then you get an error
message. I'm confused and I know it!
