Here we go. all I need to figure out is how to get into
the bios... When exactly do you press the key, before the
packard Bell logo appears, or after that, and before the
windows xp logo appears..And do you just press the key
once, or hold it down??
Thanks for any help in advance..

I would like to check the settings out, and I am trying
to figure out which key to press to enter the bios with
out numerous shutting down & restarting the computer. ;-)

There are several possible combinations. I did a Google
search and no single key was mentioned. You can do a Google
search yourself and find a bunch of answers..."enter bios
key packard bell" was the term I used.

Another solution, download Power Toys for XP TweakUI for XP
and don't show the splash screen, instead you'll see the
boot screen with memory tests and the BIOS key should be
shown on the screen.

Sorry, It is a setting in the BIOS. So when you do get
inside, you should find a setting for the splash (logo)
screen.

Only you know what motherboard and BIOS you have, so only you know
the answer to your question. ;-}
