Safely Remove Hardware - Missing

I've updated drivers on my Netgear wireless card and
somehow lost the ability to shut down the card via
MS "Safely Remove Hardware" process. How can this
process be restored? BTW, it still works for removable
drives, just not the wireless card.

Some device drivers in XP can suppress this if they believe the device can
be "surprise removed" safely.
Maybe your card has such driver.
