View Full Version : Can't Find Administrator Account
Don R
April 7th 04, 07:42 PM
A few months ago I managed somehow to get to a window that allowed selection of a user account named Administrator. I did this
either during bootup to safe mode or from the repair console, I'm not sure which. Does anyone know how to access the User Account
named Administrator. I'm not talking about administrator privileges, I'm talking about a user account named Administrator. I
didn't create this account it appeared to be one created by the system. Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings --
By design, the only way to log into the Administrator account of
WinXP Home is to reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing
CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen will produce the standard
login dialog box.

To access the hidden administrator account:
Xp home -- boot to safe mode
XP pro -- boot to safe mode or ctrl-alt-del twice on the welcome screen.

Thanks for the replies to this post. I figured out what I was doing wrong. I had my system configured for automatic logon thus
bypassing the login window. Therefore I never saw the login window where you select an account. Even when starting in safe mode my
system jumped right past the login window.
I'm using XP Home Edition and pressing ctrl-alt-del twice at the login screen brings up the text box to type in a name and password,
but you must be in Safe Mode to use Administrator as indicated in replies to this thread.
Thanks again to everyone who replied to this post.
