Take off the cover and see if the fan/heat sync combo on
the cpu is clogged with dust, ( and/or if the fan is
turning ) and if so blow it off with a can of dry air.

If its an AMD processor I would say buy a new system just
on general principle because it is an AMD and they are
known to have heat issues.

The cover is always off cos I have to have a fan blowing onto processor.
Only cleaned fan day before yesterday with compressed air.

It's not AMD, it's Pentium 4. Still thinking I'm going to have to buy new
though.
