You'll have to look at the manual for your motherboard.
There are rules governing which sticks can be put into
which slots for each motherboard. Also, it kinda sounds
like the sticks may not be seated properly and are loose.
They are sometimes persnickety little buggers.

Don't ask me for a definition of persnickety. Maybe
someone else can answer that.
