View Full Version : autoplay problem w/ fuji card reader

my fuji DPC-R1 xd card reader autoplays the fuji finepix
viewer software when a card is inserted on my windows 98
pc. but, it won't do it on 2 different xp units. we've set
the autoplay in the card reader drive's properties box to
call up the finepix program. but, it just won't do it. the
program can access the photos in the reader manually, so
the connections and drivers appear okay.
any ideas would be appreciated.

I reinstalled the drivers, ran Microsoft's autofix.exe, ran Tweak UI and checked for registry errors per instructions from a pdf file on the XP Camera and Scanner Wizard. I have no clue how to resolve this issue. Apparently there are others that are having this problem with not only the Fuji FinePix DPC-R1 but other card readers and cameras. The only work around is to right click on the drive, select Autoplay and then the Camera Wizard works. I am sure there must be a dll conflict with another program. Had I caught this problem when it first happened I could have done a restore point but it is too late for that. I installed my card reader on my friend's XP computer and it works fine. The issue is believe is with XP and not the reader. This is indeed very frustrating. Please let me know if you have found the resolution.

Have the same problem. How do I get an answer to a
possible fix? I already used autoplay wizard and
confirmed there is a problem, but no fix.Is this site
good for responce or is there another site I might use?

The fix for any USB problem, is open device manager and
remove the device and the port, even all USB ports and hubs.
Unplug any USB devices. Then reboot. Plug and play will
redetect and install the USB ports again. Then install each
USB device, one at a time.
There are many sites which have paid tech support, other
free sites and newsgroups. But this is the free Microsoft
newsgroup which is not staffed by paid staff. You will post
a question and if somebody has an answer, they may post back
an answer. You may also be chided, told to look for similar
problems, to use Google and Googlegroups, even look on the
web site for the maker of your hardware.
