Hi,
I have recently bought a second-hand Compaq Deskpro EN,
P3/800, Intel 815 chipset running XP Pro and I'm having
probs with USB devices, i.e:
6 in 1 card reader not recognised, yet another make works
out of the box;
Pocki Drive USB pen drive not recognised, yet another
make works out of the box;
Mustek MDC 3000 camera not recognised.
What happens is that the system recognises the attachment
to the USB port and starts the hardware wizard, but will
not install drivers automatically nor do the supplied
drivers discs make any difference.
All these devices worked with a previous Compaq machine
running W2K and, indeed, they work on another computer
running XP Home.
I have talked to the Pocki Drive tech support - they are
baffled. I have been on the Compaq website and applied
their suggestions. I have installed every XP update known
to man, including SP1, but all to no avail.
I am on the verge of ditching XP and reverting to W2K,
but before I do I would welcome any ideas you may have.
Cheers
Barry
