Thanks for the help, I tell you what I did:
I created a boot floppy disk as you told me and now I can=20
start up the PC with this disk and without the 30gb disk=20
connected. But how can I do to boot the PC without the=20
floppy disk?
I tried to install the XP, but it tells me there's no valid=20
system partition and that it cannot continue.
I set the 30gb HD again and executed the XP Recovery=20
Console, and the FIXMBR and FIXBOOT commands to D:\ (80gb=20
HD), but it doesn't boot from the HD and still tells me=20
there's no valid system partition, so I can re-install XP.
Any idea what to do?
PS: Although I modified the PC bios/setup, there's no way I=20
can boot XP from CD-Rom.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=3Dkb;en-us;310994 then =
follow this; Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP =

If I reinstall, shall I have any conflict with the=20
previous software installed or the XP will rescpect the=20
D:\ for the hard drive?
Thanks for the help.

When I have done a reinstall, everything remained the same, software, =
settings, etc. But my reinstalls have always been to the C drive - so I =
do not know what will happen to your setup. BTW the repair option might =
not appear if XP is beyond repair. There are no guarantees.
