i've recently reinstalled my OS on all of my systems, i
only actually have one connected to the internet though
and actually capable of accessing Windows Update (due to
firewalls)

well on this system since updating to SP1a although this
service pack has add a great deal of speed to windows -
it seems to now crash unexpectedly ... or rather just
hang whatever is going on, sometimes for a few seconds
sometimes perminantly.
it also tends to access the A: drive at random, not
properly just a quick check oftenly when starting
applications... it seemed like a virus to me at first,
but i've run NAV2003 fully updated 10times now and it
finds nothing :(
i'm wondering what could possible be causing this?
5.1.2600.1106 (xpsp1.020828-1920) that is my current
version of windows, current programs installed which it
has crashed whilst running are AOL 8.0, MSN Messenger
5.0, Windows Messenger 4.7, IE 6 (fully updated as well),
3D Studio Max 5.1 sp1, Visual Studio 6.0 sp5, Norton
Antivirus 2003 Pro, Media Player Series 9, Logitech
iTouch 2.15 and Tomb Raider III.

unfortunately i can't seem to find any common ground on
these programs. I can't find any virus's that Norton can
detect and it has already hung a few times whilst
installing programs (and when rebooted not acknowlaged it
has and believing some installations are still new)

i'm running my primary HDD on a single Partition 120Gb
NTFS ... and an additional HDD 60Gb as a 2 partition
FAT32, however i've taken the other HDD off to see if it
was that however it wasn't.

it has even hung in SafeMode whilst running NAV2003 - so
i'm not quite sure what it could be.
i'll probably contact microsoft themselves about this
later, but tomorrow - cause i doubt i'll get any response
tonite and if it isn't a problem worth waiting several
days over because someone here know what it is then i'd
be greatful.

i'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem as
well with SP1a?
