Creative 24X mx CD-ROM on Windows XP

Creative 24X mx CD-ROM on Windows XP, Compaq Deskpro EN
Yes my cd here can be seen by the os but just won't load
in windows it said the drivers may be missing or corrupt.
What can I do? I have seached alsomt everywhere. The
Creative site, Microsoft. When went to the Compaq site it
just confused me with hp stuff. Can any body find drivers
for this or tell me whats wrong...

I'm sorry if this would be inorging or anything but i realy need some one to
take a look at y problem i don't want to redo my computer tomorrow.

You may just need to replace the drive, 24x is pretty
dated now, and Creative and Compaq both did some weird
Ship in the past. CD-ROMs are cheap, but DVD-ROMS can be
had for 30-40 bucks online, try Newegg.com.

PS Toshiba makes a new one which even reads DVD-RAM
disks, not just CD/CDRWs, DVDs and =/-
writable/rewritable DVD formats.
