Blame it on the SB live 5.1, a very famous IRQ hog among
other things, even so, precipatating a crash seems a bit
much. and which GF 4 MX did you have again, was it maybe
a 420?(5200 is a new model designation for GeForce FXs).
Add more RAM and DDR is the only choice for now. 128MB is
too puny too really give XP what it needs to run well,
I'm recomending 256MB Min. and 512MB plus for gaming and
other advanced activities, IE, non-wordproccesor, non-
You've got Mail usage, real usage, gaming, Downloading,
burning CD/DVD, etc.

it's a good idea to get at least 512 ram for games. i tried 256 and it just
didn't make it but i got another 256 and games just fly! it really makes a
huge differnce.

but...
i used to buy ram from a local store, then i found i couldnm't use winXP
with this ram. it was something called mtech and someone on usenet mentioned
that cheap ram caused all kinds of problems with winXP. not so much with
win98SE [which i used to use].
so, i tried some crucial ram which cost a bit more and i can honestly say
i've never had any issues since then.
the list of ram makes to get are
samsung
corsair
micron
crucial
<sorry, i can't rem the rest but the years of instability were gone with
quality ram... i play a huge amount of games and have always had issues with
a lot of them... but the winXP, quality ram combo solved everthing!>

hope this helps
