View Full Version : Window off screen

Hello all,
I have a problem with one of my applications. I am using
winCVS and somehow I dragged one of the child window's
title bar off screen, and now I can't get it back! I've
tried the alt-space m trick, but that just allows me to
move the parent window. I right clicking on the border
doesn't do anything. I tried changing the resolution,
but this didn't work. I am working at my video card's
max resolution by default.
Is there any way to get this back on screen? Restarting
the application puts it right back where it was, so the
screen coordinates are stored *somewhere*, maybe changing
the values (wherever they are stored) is one way to fix
this? Help!!!
Thanks,
Casey

If you right-click on the taskbar, you can choose to tile or cascade
whatever you've got open; either should get everything back on the desktop.

I tried what you suggested, but this only moves the
parent window. Both the child windows stayed exactly
where they were.
Thanks anyways.

Casey,
Is there a Taskbar button to click for the child windows? If so, click one,
so that it is depressed. Then press Alt, Space, M Now use the arrow
keys to move the window around (you should be able to see the "drag" outline
of the window on your screen. Once its visible, press the Enter key to stop
it there.

No. There is only a Taskbar button for the parent window.
Thanks anyways,

Casey, some apps have their own "Window" menu along with File, Edit, View
and Help. That menu, if available will handle child windows. I have several
graphic programs that let me drag child windows outside of the parent
window. If I close the program before rounding up those strays, the app
resets the workspace and pulls them in for me.
