1. Can anybody tell me where the Address Book stores its
data?Recently I have had several crashes due to a piece
of malfunctioning hardware. In future I would like to be
able to back it up.
2. In XP is there anyway to permanently get rid of that
blue panel on the left hand side so that you can stay in
Explorer mode all the time?

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name
The Default value in the right pane will show you where your WAB file is
located.

Open the Address Book.
In the Address Book click Help | About and OE will tell you the location and
name of the file it is using.
If it does not then it is set to share Outlook's Contacts. Click Tools (in
the Address Book) and undo that option (if you wish to).
