need an easy and quick way to transfer files between 2 computers that are on
my cable modem......both have winXP pro and network cards installed

Have you tried setting the second computer up to "share" a disk with the
first one? (use a password) It then simply looks like another disk on the
first computer. You can copy/paste the file if you like graphical interfaces
or you can XCOPY it if you prefer the command line.
