I'm running XP on a DELL 8200. I've had this problem for
some time - and I've checked all the variables I can think
of. What happens is that when I power on or off a device
connected via USB (or connect a new one Plug and Play
compatable) I get the dreaded BLUE screen and must
reboot. It happens more often than not and almost always
when I power on the printer (even with a new printer).
I've gone to a powered hub, no hub, switch back and forth,
etc. Dell now recommends doing a complete system
reinstall (all tests are fine). And one more strange
thing - my mouse will only work via USB, even though I can
switch the keyboard to the mouse part and have that work.
SO it's not the port/not the mouse.
Any ideas before I redo everything????
