Anyone any idea why System Info and the Help & Support although they load
they don't show on screen and then offload themselves?

For H&S: this is often caused by running a Registry Cleaner without
the caution that is necessary in this situation. If you did use such a
tool, see if you can undo the latest changes to the Registry. If this
is not possible, reinstall Windows on top of the existing files: "How
to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP"

Reinstallation of windows is too drastic. I have seen a repair on these
newsgroups many times for this problem. Unfortunately I didn't make note of
it. Check kellys site and/or wait for someone with the fix to respond..

If you've run Toni Arts Easy Cleaner on your XP installation, and allowed it
to delete what it found in the registry, then your Help and Support will not
run. Easy Cleaner deletes the values of 2 necessary Registry keys. See my
web site, www.dougknox.com and go to the Windows XP section. Follow the
appropriate link for Fix Window XP Help. This small VB Script will repair
the damage done by Easy Cleaner. Note: other Registry cleaning programs
cause the same problem.

Whole lot better than reinstalling wouldn't you say?

No disagreement there. :-) But even so, Thorsten did say, if a Registry
cleaner had been run, use its Undo feature first. And trying to reinstall
via the PCHEALTH.INF file takes less time than a reinstall, but doesn't
always work.
