Hi!
Here's my actual config:
Primary IDE, Master: prime HDD (XP boot partition) (DMA)
Primary IDE, Slave: second HDD (DMA)
Secondary Channel, Master: CDRW/DVDROM unit (LG GCC 4120B)
(DMA)
Secondary Channel, Slave: CDROM unit (LG CRD 8520B) (PIO)
May seem strange, but this is THE ONLY ONE configuration=20
that actually works with my ASUS A7V266-EX board; if I=20
change it the CDROM drive may not be recognised. Even=20
now, the transfer rate of this unit is very low and=20
nearly halts all other current processes (typical choppy=20
sound when playing something) ... and, when I insert own-
burned Music CD's, I can see how the unit literally=20
DISAPPEARS (i.e. magically pops out) in the device=20
manager!!!! Never seen such a nasty thing before ...
I didn't have such a similar, or very far similar problem=20
with win2K ... I tried to go back to win2k and all is=20
wonderful (so drive units are fine)... dunno why I went=20
again to XP ... :-(
I tried PIO and DMA modes for this drive and got the same=20
problem, even worse with DMA.
Can anybody hep me with this issue??
Thanks in advance.
