For the last month or so I cannot load updates. The
automatic update feature is not working. When I go to
Windows Update via Explorer I get a message that
says "Thank you for your interest in Windows XP. You must
be running a Windows OS". Then I get nothing.

From what I've heard before about this, it could be your system clock.
Check the date that your computer thinks it is, including the year.

Hi Marc,
Usually an indication that more than one firewall is running. Disable =
any third party firewall and the native one in WinXP (check =
properties/advanced tab of the connection). Check also the fix at the =
bottom of the first section of this link:
