I have way too many fonts collected. I was told to take some of the fonts out of windows and put them in a seperate folder that I should create. When I looked in C:\windows I found that there was only one file there. It was the fonts file but it was empty.
I found the fonts file and other files in C:\WINNT. Is this the way it is supposed to be? Can I remove some of the fonts I have downloaded from C:\WINNT\fonts and store them in another folder I create?

Yes, the Fonts folder is typically in the Windows folder.

It is possible to have the fonts in a completely different folder, and
only copy a shortcut into the C:\WINNT\fonts folder. I mention this,
because it greatly simplifies font management, if you put your fonts in
an organized library, and just create shortcuts in the font folder as
you need various groups of fonts installed.

You might consider getting a Font manager application to manage the
installing and uninstalling of fonts as you need them. There are a
number of inexpensive and even free shareware font manager applications.
Check any shareware site, such as download.com.
