still does not work for me ... I have an Event ID (4) in
the event viewer and it does not load. MSN Messenger
however works ...

Greetings,

Download and run these .reg files in the affected accounts:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/enablewindowsmessenger_user.reg
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/enablemessenger.reg
After running these, reboot and then try opening Windows Messenger again.
