how do i restore previous windows...

since my hardware doesn't agree with xp i want the me
version back..but..when i restart..xp brings me back to
their setup where i had the i386asms fatal error(?) and
automatically restarts everytime..loop?..i hit f8 to
advanced options but previous windows working properly is
only xp! not me like it should say..i took the xp disk out
of the cd-rom and it tells me to insert xp back in...there
must be a way to get windows me back without losing all my
stuff......PLEASE>>I NEED HELP!!!

Boot the computer and immediately press F8 to get your boot
menu, select "safe mode" and maybe it will run. If so, you
can use control panel-add/remove software to roll back.
