hard disk

i dont think that this idiot (pardon me) macklin has
understood my Q? the in simple terms: if i use 100000000gb
hard drive how will WinXp-home deal with it! meaning ,will
it format it to its max limit i.e. say 500gb and ignore
that rest of the hard drive space or what? Will work at
all!

so, in my case as the motherboard supports only upto 30gb
and if i install 40gb will the op. sys. WinXP-home deal
with it to 30gb and ignore the rest? will it work at all?
