View Full Version : Not a single PCI device works - help!

I have an A7S333. All was fine with hardware, but I needed to reinstall win
XP.

Now, not a single PCI device works. They all get detected and the Found New
Hardware Wizard comes up, but for my sound card, XP says that there is no
appropriate hardware after I point it to the folder containing the correct
driver. I also have a DSP PCI card (for audio processing) and when trying to
install that driver, it says device could not start (with code 10). And then
my network does not work at all. Can't ping my dsl router, etc, etc. Does not
matter which PCI slots are used. This can not be a coincidence. I put these
devices in my other computer and they work fine. Is there a way to test the
BIOS and or PCI bus at a low level to determine what the root cause of all
this is?

I really need some well thought out ideas here.

Regards,

Brian

Suggest you install XP as a new installation on a freshly formatted hard
disk as everything seems screwed up. Ensure you have the latest BIOS
version from your Mobo manufacturer and the latest chipset drivers for XP if
needed installed before installing XP.

Good luck

I would try reformating and doing a from scratch install. Looks like there
was an error between setup and something in the BIOS configuration. You
might want to try using the BIOS Default settings until you get XP installed
and then do any tweaking.

It doesn't take long to make the changes in CMOS and re-install XP. If the
problem still persists I would consider trying to install an older OS on the
MB to determine if it may be the culprit.

Do you have the motherboard drivers supplied with the PC?
That will have all the drivers needed for your A7S333 system including
PCI, IDE, USB etc drivers
