Is there any thing in XP/IE that would disconnect me after 2 hours online with the statement "that the server has reset" and if there is, is there a switch to change it?

Dial up? You do not say. But most ISP's disconnect after two hours and
you have to redial. Mine did (England) until I got Broadband.
