View Full Version : Other systems can't use files on XP's NTFS drive

In Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View
(tab). Under advanced settings, make sure "Use simple
file sharing" is NOT checked. The security tab should now
appear for files and folders!

Thanks for answering the first question! That takes care of getting the
Security tab to show up. But, still can't get the Win98 systems to be able
to open the files on the WinXP NTFS system. Is this because FAT32 systems
just don't play well with NTFS? I have gone into the Security permissions
and given "everyone" full access, but it still does not work.

Outside of the permissions issue, the fact the 9x systems are FAT32 doesn't
enter in to the problem. Try creating an account on the XP machine that
matches one of the 9x user accounts (username and password). See if you can
access the files then.
