View Full Version : Getting XP to look like 98se.....

I am new to XP and have been quite happy with it up to now but I
miss the Windows Explorer that I have been used to in 98se. I know I can
view a very similar format which would be no problem if I could just
click on a desktop icon to get it up but the only way I have been able
to get what I want is to click My Computer - C:/ - Then Folders on the
menu.
What I would like to do is put an Icon on the desktop that will
take me straight to the windows explorer format with one click. Can this
be done?

Thanks!

1. Right click on the desktop and select menu New - Shortcut
2. On the resulting window, type "explorer.exe /e,C:\" (without quotes) and
press Next
3. Give a friendly name to the icon and click Finish

Now an explorer shortcut(icon) should have been created on the desktop;
double-click it to directly open C:\

Another easy alternative, especially if you want to view all your drives
(Explorer in collapsed view), is hold down the Windows key, then hit the
E key.
