it always says

remote sensor not detected

what do i do now?

tried all 5 usb ports

how do i know if its a port or a sensor malfunction?

See if the remote sensor works on other Windows XP SP1 machines.
Alternatively, see if other USB devices work on the MCE machine.

From that, you should be able to see which device is at fault (either the
ports or the remote sensor)
