I upgraded from ME to XP and now my printer/scanner won't
work. I tried to install the manufacturer's software and
found an error message about spooling. Who can I turn to?

The company that manufactured your printer.

MS did not produce the driver for your printer. MS never has produced
drivers for printers. If there are drivers for printers on your MS
CDs, it's because the printer manufacturers gave them to MS to
distribute. Please don't blame MS for this problem.

I don't know if this will help, but see:

""Spooler Subsystem Application Needs to Close" and "Operation Could Not Be
Completed" Error Messages"

It sounds like some inappropriate drivers may be left over from ME, if you
didn't uninstall the printer software before the upgrade.

Also: some printers (e.g., HP USB devices) require that you install the
software with the printer disconnected, and then plug in the printer. Maybe
you can uninstall the printer drivers/software, and then try again.

Good luck.
