I want to uninstall My (activated) XP Pro from one machine
to another.
What do I need to do to transfer and re-activate XP
Pro to another machine?

Call Microsoft and get another 'key'. Because you already own the software
with a single license and it will only be installed on a single machine you
will have no difficulty.

Wrong. You don't need another key and you may not even need to contact =
Microsoft.
Uninstall it from the existing machine. Install it on the new machine. =
Attempt to activate normally. One of two things will happen depending =
upon the age of the existing installation:
1) You will be able to activate normally (not unusual if the existing =
installation is more than 120 days old).
2) You will be prompted to phone in your activation because the hardware =
doesn't match. Simply call the listed number and explain exactly as you =
did here. They will have you read the code listed on the machine, and =
give you one to key in.
This applies to retail versions of WinXP only. OEM versions are not =
transferable.

yes, i had a funny occurrence with my Office XP. I added a network card to
the machine and had to re activate the programme, Microsoft guy tells me
"yes, anytime you add new hardware you will have to re activate" !!!

If your XP Pro is a retail version (purchased separately in a retail
store) then you can do this. If the automatic online activation does
not work then you will have to phone Microsoft and do a manual
activation. This takes perhaps 5 to 10 minutes.
If your XP Pro is an OEM version (e.g. if it came preinstalled on a
new computer) then that license is permanently locked to the first
computer it was intalled on and cannot be transferred to another
computer. You can, however, sell the computer plus the Windows XP as
a package to someone else.
Good luck
