Sound Card compatibility with Win XP Home

I've installed a 6 channel CMI8738 PCI sound card in a
client's PC. The PC is running Win XP Home and will not
detect nor install the sound card. It must be noted,
however, that the sound card was previously running on a
PC with Win 98 SE. After contacting suppliers, who
insisted that the card is XP Home compatible, I installed
the card on another XP Home machine and yet again found
the same result. It does, however, work on PC's with Win
XP Pro. I have since had the card replaced with a brand
new card and supplied with Win XP drivers which have yet
again yielded the very same result ie the drivers and the
sound card only work on Win XP Pro.

It is very clear that there isn't a fault with the
soundcard. Can anyone help me to obtain drivers that
actually work?
