I just updated my computer with all the latest updates from Windows Update.
Now, when I start my computer, my welcome screen is different and says "To
begin, click your user name". There's an icon. Before the update, whenever
I started my computer I just got a screen that said welcome and you didn't
have to click anything and Windows automatically started. I want that back.
How do I do it?
Thanks,
Alan

You will need Tweak UI to make it automatically login for you. It happened to me and I know how much of a pain it is. It will not say in big words 'welcome', but it will say 'Loading Personal Settings'

Goto start/run and type control userpasswords2 then click ok.
You will then get an option to untick `users must enter a password to use
this computer`.

When you updated you installed ".NET Framework". The installation of
this creates a 2nd user (it's not a "real" user, it's to allow certain
system functions to be performed programatically). However, wereas
before you had only a single user, now there are multiple user accounts,
which is the reason that the logon is required. You may or may not be
able to get around this, some other people posted some suggestions about
control panel & tweakui, but they seemed to miss the root cause of this
(that before, there was only one user account, now there are two (or
more)). Take a look at their suggestions and see if they work, but it
was the installation of .NET Framework that created the situation (in
case you are wondering, you probably DID want to install it, more and
more software and even many hardware devices (including the newer HP
inkjet printers) require it for full functionality).

Windows has already "started." You just need to turn off the Welcome Screen.
