I had to FDISK a new harddrive, but by mistake I created
a "Primary Dos partition" on my windows boot drive. When
I go to boot it now says something like "operating system
error". I know the data is still on the harddrive, is
there any way to fix my mistake ?

You may need to contact one of the professional data
recovery firms, how much is your data worth?
Remove the drive from the computer before you make any more
changes to the file structure.
Do a Google search for "data recovery"

Also do a Google search for "undo fdisk," I did a quick look
and found one reference to setting the problem disk as slave
on a good system and the data was still accessible. Since
you have two drives, just to be on safe side, remove the IDE
cable from the drive you F'd disked, then use your XP CD to
boot and install XP on your new drive, use the tools on the
CD to partition and format the drive while you're at it.
Then set the jumpers on the original drive to slave (the new
boot drive should be set to master) and see if your data is
visible.
This might be better anyway, since your new drive is
probably bigger and faster.

There's no easy way of getting the data back ? I know
it's still there since it never fully formatted the drive
or anything... Anyone have any ideas ?

Hm... That'd be a nice solution to the lil mess I've
made :p. I'll try setting it as a slave on a working
computer tomarrow. Going to bed now, too much crap
today... Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how if
this works.

i have done that st*****ty before but with linux deleting the whole file
system, be sure to remove that HD of yours cause windows might write new
data into it. and it could decrease your chance of recovering your previous
data.
Try partition magic. it can restore the old file system of yours. goodluck
