Are pictures taken by me and put on my website
automatically copyrighted? If so, with
what "organization"? I searched all over and have heard
that it is, but I need help!

Hmmm. Why would you say "no"? Copyright is automatic when the work is
created. It's not necessarily protected very well unless it's registered,
but it's copyrighted nonetheless. You actually have to give up the right by
saying that something is public domain, otherwise it's supposed to be
assumed that it's copyrighted.

I believe that to have any legal claim you must actually put the copyright
notice on the Web site. You do not have to register it.

My main occupation is artist and designer. I've found that interpretation of
copyright laws varies from one country to another. If you are concerned
about retaining the copyright to your work, check this topic out in more
depth. There are websites and forums dedicated to this subject. The US
government maintains a copyright information website that is helpful if from
this country. I don't know what other countries have online. After a bit of
research, you'll find varying opinions about what establishes a valid
copyright but will be more informed and better equipped to make a decision
about handling your own work.

Notice isn't required as of 1978. I might be wrong on the exact year, but
the "new" copyright conventions got rid of the requirement for a copyright
notice. It's a good idea to have it there, but it's not a legal requirement.
