Hello,

I've been trying to fix a problem that I'm having with my LS-120 drive.
After I installed Windows XP with SP1, I've noticed that I can't write to
LS-120 diskettes any more. The drive did work when I had Windows 2000
installed.

I've tried a second LS-120 drive, and got the same symptoms.

I've tried different LS-120 diskettes, some brand new, and the drive still
thinks that the disks are write-protected. I've also tried the diskettes in
my second LS-120 drive, with no success.

I can read from any diskette without error.

I haven't tried the drive(s) in a Windows 2000 or 98 computer yet. I guess I
could just to double check that they are workring.

My BIOS is setup to Auto detect - which it does. With the 1.44 floppy drive
set to "none" and the Floppy Drive Controller set to "disabled". (LS-120's
are an IDE drive, and specifying drive 'A' as a floppy when there isn't a
1.44 floppy can cause problems.)

The drive is on the primary IDE controller as the Master with no slave on
the cable. (I'm using a Promise ATA100 controller in a PCI slot for my hard
drive.)

The drivers are the default Windows XP drivers, version 5.1.2600.0 date
7/1/2001.

I've checked Google and Microsoft's KB for help, but didn't find anything
specific.

Thanks for any input.
