Yikes,
In order to enable my computers to connect through my network card I have to
trun off the Norton Antivirus 2003!
IF ti deactivate the auto protect I can transfer files just fine but when I
turn it on then my XP machine cannot see the others.
Is there a fix to this problem.

Since the problem is only present when Norton's Antivirus program runs, may
I suggest checking the Symantec website for articles discussing the issue?
Meanwhile, temporarily disabling your A/V protection does not have to be
"dangerous." You can scan files manually before sending and after recieving
them.

Firstly, I do use the same AntiVirus under XP-Home and it all works together
happily along with networking so it is possible and I didn't have to do
anything to Norton to get it to work.
Do you have some fire wall installed? The only vaguely similar problem I've
had turned out to be a free fire wall that was contending with other software
on the system.
Do you have other applications running which you can shut off as a test to
see which one screws things up for you?
