Using Microsoft Fax that came installed on my Sony VAIO
about 6 months ago, I am able to send faxes from any
Microsoft application.
I have set up Fax to automatically receive faxes and
answer on the second ring. The problem is I cannot
receive any faxes, and have never been able to receive
one. The Fax Monitor automatically opens up, answers the
call and begins to receive the fax. Then, after about 50
seconds, I get an error message that states: "An error
occurred while receiving the fax" and the line
disconnects. There is no explanation of what that error
is, so I have no idea where to begin to fix this. I have
run through the Fax setup numerous times to make sure
that the Fax is setup to receive faxes. I have checked
my internal modem (Lucent Technologies SoftModem AMR) and
it is working properly. I also contacted Sony and they
were unable to help. Finally, Microsoft Troubleshooter
does not have a solution either.
Any ideas?
(By the way, I have a separate phone line connected to my
computer for dial-up internet connections. It is that
line that I use to send faxes and the one that is set up
to receive them.)
I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
