floppy drive not recognized

My floppy drive is not working and it is not recognized
by xp on startup. I have disconnected it and reattached
it. But that still does not work.

I have a
MSI VIA KT333 Chipset based KT3 Ultra

Does the floppy light stay lit all the time? If so, the floppy connector is
oriented backwards, flip it 180. Also, presume you have the floppy
controller enabled in the BIOS?
