I am building a new work station with the latest Pentium 4
with Hyper Thread and the 875 Intel chip set and Intel
Motherboard. I will be running XP pro. I am thinking about
using a 10,000 rpm SATA 150(serial harddrive). I would
like advise on size...brand..speed. Western Digital makes
a nice 37gig with 5ns access time? Any advice on
partioning/slave/master...problems etc. I would like to
know if it is possible to run the master drive with Serial
ATA and the slave with IDE ATA 100? Thanks for the help

The average desktop user will not see much benefit from Serial ATA's=20
lower power consumption. Corporate IT types may appreciate Serial=20
ATA's potential for lower power consumption for multi-drive RAID=20
arrays that are constantly active.=20
Those looking at building multi-drive Serial ATA systems should note=20
that the Serial ATA standard supports only a single device per channel.

Any recommendations given here will probably be down to the personal choice
of the poster, who will already have paid for whatever drive they're
recommending. Better to look at some of the review and comparison sites.
Tom's Hardware is one of the better ones and has already done some
comparisons of different SATA drives.

Scroll down the page to the Mass Storage articles.
Hope that helps
