View Full Version : mystery slowdown of everything on my XP Pro notebook

I've recently noticed a distinct reduction in overall
performance and speed on my Dell 8200 laptop. I realized
that this started soon after I did a "Windows Update"
which included a bunch of stuff and Direct X 9. Is it
possible that any of those "updates" could be to blame for
my sluggish machine? I tried the system restore but it
wont let me restore anything before a day or two ago. A
couple of freeware benchmark programs confirm that almost
everything is performing poorly.
Ideas? Thanks.

If you installed the hotfix 811493 that is the reason for the slowdown. Just
uninstall it and your system will return to normal speed again.
