View Full Version : Diskeeper and Chkdsk problems

I was using Executive Soft. diskeeper 7.0 SE software under WINXP PRO with
all the updates to keep my disk defragmented. I have not had any problems
until today. I ran a boot time defrag of the page file and MFT on all three
partitions on my computer, running on each individually one after the other
with rebooting between defrags like I have in the past. It ran fine on my
C: than ran on D: after the reboot it keeps going to the chkdsk screen but
it is blank and than reboots and does the same again and again. I let it
run for 15 reboots just to see if it came back no such luck.

Any Ideas

Are you able to boot into Windows? If yes, check to see if Diskeeper has an
error log somewhere on the hard drive. If not in the program's own folder,
check in the Windows folder. XP's Event Viewer may have information about
the problem in the Applications branch too. It will be easier for you to
find information about the problem with some kind of log info or error
report at hand. Executive Software probably has some online resources that
you could browse for help on this application problem too.

Hi Gene -

I've not heard of this particular behavior, but my first guess is that
it's possibly signs of some other situation on your disk (not
necessarily related to Diskeeper). I'd suggest getting in contact
with the Executive Software tech support folks at
, or you can call them directly at
818-771-1600. They can walk you through a few things to check and get
the problem handled.

Sharon is correct -- Diskeeper logs various information to the
Application Event log, so you might see some more clues as to what's
happening by looking there.

I hope this helps -
