I want to 'uninstall' setup for a network card that has
been physically removed from the system, but because the
card is no longer there, the 'local area network' entry for
that card is hidden. All I can see is 'local area
network2' for the new card, and when I try to use the same
IP address I get a warning.
How do I remove this device that no longer exists?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've searched many
websites and knowledge bases, but I can't find anything
related.
Thanks,
Iain

Try device manager and remove all network card hardware
shown. Reboot and only the stuff that is really there
should be reinstalled.

Put this in a batch file and run...
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
cd \windows\system32
start devmgmt.msc
exit
Now go to view and choose to display hidden devices, find the offending
(greyed out) entry(ies) and delete away.
Good luck
