I have XP and Mandrake on my laptop with no issues. You need to use LILO
during boot up. When installing Linux it gives you the option to set up
dual booting.

If XP and Linux are already installed and you cannot get a dual boot open
X-term and type in "gedit lilo.conf" without quotes. Add this line to the
lilo.conf file
other=/dev/hda1
optional
label=XP (or whatever name you want)
if xp was not installed first you may have to put other=/dev/hda2
now click File>save to save the changes to the lilo.conf file.
You must type in "lilo" at the prompt to update it and you should be
presented with a dual boot. I don't have much linux experience, but i have
done this to get a dual boot with both xp and also on another machine with
win2k.

I owe you an apology, you need to type in "gedit /etc/lilo.conf"
to be able to edit the file.
