I have two 512MB (PC133)chips I am trying to install in
my machine. Both work separtely, but not together? Is
there someting I can do to fix this? They will work in
either DIMM slot and will work with a 256MB chip??????
Help.

It sounds very much like your two 512 mb modules are not totally
compatible with each other.
This can happen when the modules are from different manufacturers, or
even from the same manufacturer but different production lots.
What happens is that there will be differences in the internal
physical layout and/or the material composition of the RAM chips used
in the modules. These differences can affect the strength and the
timing of the electrical signals returned from the RAM and Windows is
sensitive to these differences.
There is no cure for this. The only option is to replace one of the
modules so that you have two modules that are absolutely identical.
Good luck

Greetings --
It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module be compatible
with both the motherboard and any other RAM module(s) in the system.
Additionally, there are sometimes jumper switches on older
motherboards that need to be reset for the new RAM configuration.
Consult your motherboard's manual.
