Setting up a new machine with a ECS P4VXASD2+ Motherboard
with the AMI 01/17/2003 BIOS, P4 2.53GH processor and the
IBM IC35L120AVV207-0 Harddrive. The HD is suppose to be a
123GH device but although the BIOS seems to recognize the
HD accurately, the capacity is setup by XP Home as 32GB.
Looking for suggestions how I might get to the rest.

There are several possible causes:
1. If you choose FAT32 then the XP CD will only create a 32GB
max part. Either choose NTFS (usually the best choice), or
create the big FAT32 part using FDISK from a W9x FD before
booting from the XP CD.
2. With older MBs, you may need a BIOS update to recognize a
>32 GB HD. Probably not your problem.
3. Depending on where you got the HD, it might have a jumper
set to limit the HD to 32GB.

You're probably using FAT32, switch to NTFS.

Hi,

You may have chosen to format the drive in FAT32.
If you don't what to change the file format, you can go to
disk management to format and partition the rest free
space of your HD.
