I have a couple of PC's hooked up to a KVM switch and i
noticed when i play games using the PS/2 mouse(logitech
wheel mouse) the game is very skippy and also when im not
playing games and just under normal PC use the mouse
pointer skips.this also happens when i plug the mouse into
the PS/2 port at the back of the pc.I normaly use a USB
mouse but the KVM switch only uses PS/2.
I would realy appreciate any help on this problum
Thx

Conflicting with the usb mouse perhaps?

Have you tried unplugging the usb mouse while trying to
use the ps/2?

JOSH,
if i set the sample rate higher will it change the way my
USP mouse works? and thx for the reply

GRAN,
The way i have everything hooked up is like this.
I have my PS/2 mouse and Keyboard pluged into the KVM
switch. The cable comming out of the KVM is going to 1 PC
and on that PC i have the moniter, PS/2 mouse, and the
keyboard plugs plug into the PC.The other cable comming
from the KVM going to my second PC, the moniter and
keyboard plugs are pluged into the PC , but the PS/2 mouse
IS NOT pluged into the PC.I use a USB mouse byitself since
i do alot of gamming and its mutch smother.
So i do not think its a conflict since the PS/2 and the
USB are not on the same PC.If u have any other ideas i
would like to here them and thx for the post

Here are the specs on my 2 systems
1)ABIT KG7-R motherboard ,AMD T-BIRD 1.4GHz,512 DDR PC2100
RAM,40gig HD 7200 RPM,GeFORCE 2 MX/400 AGP VIDEO CARD(this
1 is using the PS/2 mouse from the KVM switck)

2)ABIT KR7A-133R motherboard, AMD XP2400+(2.0GHz), 512 DDR
PC2100 RAM,40gig HD 7200 RPM, GeFORCE 4 Ti 4600 AGP,SOUND
BLASTER X GAMER soundcard(this 1 only uses the USB mouse)

thx for your posts and sorry for this realy long 1,LOL

Changing the PS/2 sample rate will only affect PS/2
devices. In other words, only the PS/2 mouse will be
affected. I don't know how USB works precicely, but I
suspect that it doesn't have even have a sample rate,
merely the data comes in when it comes in. Even if
that's not true, it seems to run a lot smoother than PS/2
ever did when properly used. Of course, that isn't to
say that PS/2 coudln't do a lot. There was once a mouse
for it called the "Razor" mouse which was made for us FPS
gamers who wanted extreme precision and needed
smoothness. Other than that though, there weren't too
many PS/2 mice that were made so well that they would be
as smooth. For usb, however, it seems like at least half
of them are that way.
